Sojourn / Phambukela or ‘temporary stay’ points to the inherent nature of life - it is in constant flux; never finished. By using the methodology of science fiction as a curatorial lens, Sojourn explores the temporality, the liminality of nature, life, body, memory and possible futures as they are created, questioned, destroyed and re-created in the passing of time and the change of our worlds. As much as we have one planet (for now) we inhabit multiple worlds which this project explores. With this exhibition we argue that we have long created planet B but yet need to establish a lexicon for it - an understanding and articulation of the liminal space between digital and physical.
